My name is Michelle Boland and I’ve spent years testing elite athletes in exercise physiology labs, training everyone from professional athletes to IT professors, speaking at health and performance events, and coaching people both in person and remotely. At the same time, I’ve fallen in love with hiking mountains and running trails.
My new endeavor, Reframe Performance, will bring all of these pieces together to help others build momentum towards running and hiking further, while avoiding the aches and pains that take them away from what they love to do.
Reframe Performance will be for running and hiking enthusiasts, because more often than not, runners weight-train like they are Crossfitters or bodybuilders, and wonder why they feel so stiff during their runs…and let’s face it, most hikers avoid weight training altogether.
It’s time to REFRAME what the weight room can do for you by learning how to train a different way, so you can run more freely and hike in harder terrain for more epic views.
- REFRAME who you compare yourself to - stop comparing yourself to elite athletes when you should be comparing yourself to who you were yesterday
- REFRAME what weight training looks like to you - instead of thinking about barbells and growing muscles, think about tension and freedom of movement
- REFRAME how you deal with aches and pains within the training process
- REFRAME weight training as supportive instead of detrimental
Here we will provide education and useful training tools so we can reframe performance as,
- more purposeful training, instead of chasing miles
- reconnecting to how your body feels, instead of obsessing over data
- building training plans within the context of your life, instead of telling you to just do more
- reconnecting with the enjoyment of training, instead of checking off a box and dreading your training sessions
